Scope & Content U.S. Government War Ration Book Four. This book was issued to Charlotte E. Spencer of Torrington, Wyoming. Charlotte Spencer was four years old in 1943. The book was signed for by her mother, Esther E. Spencer. Books such as this were the mechanism by which commodities were rationed during World War II. Resources such as gas, coffee, and sugar were regulated. This book was issued in 1943 and still contains many of the original stamps.
Physical Characteristics This item is extremely fragile and friable. Handling shall be minimized by using digital images and photocopies. Anyone handling the item must wear cotton gloves.
